Heidi
Heidi Klum, born on 1 June 1973, in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Erna Klum was her mother. Gunther Klim, her father was the executive of a cosmetics firm. Heidi's father had earlier been director of production at the 4711 perfume company. Her hometown was Bergisch Gladbach, a small city of about 100,000 inhabitants located six miles from Cologne was where she grew up. Her past life was as a German-American fashion model who now performs as a host on TV, producer and fashion designer. Klum first began modeling in 1992 while being employed as a barmaid in a discotheque. Karin encouraged Klum, then a student of 18 years old, to take part in an German TV talent show dubbed Model 92. The German women's newspaper Petra sponsored the show which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's late-night talkshow. Klum took on thousands of contestants from across Germany as well as Europe until she became one of the three semi-finalists. In April of 1992, she was awarded the biggest prize in modeling, $300,000.
