John Denver, a singer-songwriter who hails from Colorado that specialized in folk music has was a hit with millions of fans. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and moved to Aspen. There were many who beat a path to Colorado after listening to Denver's iconic tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. In 2011, Denver was selected as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders. They ask them "I come from Colorado" and they instantly reply "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk music groups included Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff first wrote the track with Johnny Cash's music in thoughts, however Denver realized from the first time he heard the early versions that the song would become a major popular. Danoff recorded the track just a few days later when he performed it in front of an enthusiastic audience who were in Washington D.C.
